Rivers & Revolutions

Rivers & Revolutions  --->   https://www.riversandrevolutions.org
Heard three years ago that a bold superintendent in the Concord-Carlisle Public Schools gave the support of a small group of teachers at the high school, led by Michael Goodwin, to create a small, interdisciplinary school within a school grounded in the history of the community (Concord, MA, central to the American Revolution and other progressive civil events) and student-centered exploration.
Why do I like this program?
Multiple reasons.
  1. The superintendent gave a small group of educators the space and freedom to run with student-centered vision of education "out of the norm"
  2. The program is student-centered and interdisciplinary
  3. The program is experience-based
  4. The program is place-based
How can you not like it?
And .... why isn't more of this happening in schools?
